Nearly one thousand persons attended the picnic held at the new Colored Fair Grounds, which are situated near West Falls Church, Labor Day. The picnic was under the auspices of the G. U. O. of Odd Fellows of Merrifield for the purpose of obtaining funds to pay off an indebtedness.
