Prof. E. B. Henderson and Mr. Shelby J. Davidson of Washington, D. C., were selected to make the two main speeches during the Fairfax County Fair, on October 12 and 13. The object of the fair was to encourage education and agriculture, and to promote better economic and social conditions among the colored people of the county. This year the fair was held on grounds bought by the colored people of the county, and situated on the two main railroad lines near Falls Church. To Mr. A. T. Shirley of Herndon and Mr. A. T. West of Vienna belongs a major portion of the credit for what the Colored Fair Association of Fairfax County has done.
